It’s vital to recognize the need for Indigenous representation in our community and celebrations, and we acknowledge our current shortcomings in this area. We are actively working to incorporate more Indigenous representation at Kaslo Jazz and are committed to growing for the 2025 festival. This extends beyond tokenism and musical acts. We are striving to actively collaborate with our Indigenous communities to have vendors, workshops, art, and much more in the fabric of our event. We honour that the land we gather on for Kaslo Jazz is the traditional and unceded territories of the Ktunaxa, Sinixt, and Syilix peoples. Let’s use this day to not just honour but also to educate and uplift Indigenous voices.
