HELLO ALL YOU LOVELY KASLO JAZZ SUBSCRIBERS
On the eve of our first on-sale and artist announcement in 2 years, I want reach out and give as much information as possible about what to expect from the 29th Annual Kaslo Jazz Etc Festival on July 29-31, 2022. We’re SO excited to be planning again!
Reminder: we’ll be announcing over a dozen acts on March 3rd at 10am PST and also putting weekend passes on-sale at the same time through kaslojazzfest.com.
There have been a lot of questions over the past week, and we can tell you’re excited! We are too! That said, this is all moving pretty fast on our end and we are still a really small team at the moment. Please bare with us if our replies and communications are a little slower this year. If you have questions, please visit our FAQ here! or you can always reach out through our Contact Us page.
There are going to be some changes this year and it’s important we communicate them before you buy tickets tomorrow. Please read this very carefully!
THE EVENT
We are going to bring the same calibre of amazing music to the festival on both the iconic Floating Stage and the Holland Stage as always. Gates will open at 2pm everyday this year, and we are once again going to weave in all your favourite activities like craft beer, beach yoga, workshops, kids activities and more!
With that said, we are scaling down our attendance this year to reduce the strain on our crew, volunteers, partners and the Village of Kaslo. We want to make this as stress-free an event as possible for everyone, while still knocking it out of the park musically. This means that we are putting less tickets on-sale tomorrow than usual. So if you know you are planning on attending – don’t wait too long to buy your tickets!
We are really excited to be developing an event model that will allow us to present more festivals of this scope throughout the year. Keep an eye out for some exciting announcements throughout the coming months about some new projects we have in the works!
CAMPING
At this time, we are not planning on offering public festival camping for the 2022 festival. This includes South Beach, Lovers, and Jazzlo Bay. We understand that in previous years many of you have travelled for the festival and stayed in our campgrounds. We’ve loved providing that experience for you! But realistically, it is more than we can take on this year. Hopefully one day we can return to operating campgrounds again, but for now please visit our Camping and Accommodations page if you need ideas of where to stay locally!
VOLUNTEERS / VENDORS
We genuinely couldn’t do this event without you! Tomorrow morning when we send the ticket link/initial artist announcement, we will also include the application form for 2022 volunteers. Our HR team is just getting started, so please give us some time to process your application. We will be in touch this Spring to get you onboard!
Food / Craft Vendor applications will also open in a few weeks and will be sent out via this email newsletter, so if you are looking to be a vendor – please keep an eye out for that update.
YOUTH POLICY / TICKETS
We have made significant changes to our Youth Policy for 2022. As a result of scaling down our attendance this year, we have also adjusted the age requirements for youth ticket discounts. For attendance of those 18 and under, please be sure you read and understand the Kaslo Jazz Youth Policy prior to your purchase/arrival.
PLUS1 / THE UNISON FUND
The Kaslo Jazz Etc Festival has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 per ticket goes to supporting The Unison Fund and their work to provide counselling and emergency relief services to the Canadian music community.
We are very excited to be partnering with Plus1 and The Unison Fund to support this important work and we encourage you to please explore their vision and support them in any way you can.
COVID-19
In accordance with the Province of BC’s health orders, the Kaslo Jazz Etc Festival will follow all government guidelines relating to Covid-19 at the time of the event.
Current government guidelines can be found here: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/info/restrictions#pho-order
KJEF will adhere to it’s Covid-19 safety plan as required. As government information changes regularly, we are constantly monitoring all updates and awaiting clarification on what will be necessary for all KJEF attendees. We pledge to keep all attendees updated as we learn more.
This lack of clarity has been a frustrating experience for everyone and we want to assure you that we are doing our best to produce another safe and exciting Kaslo Jazz. We appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate this process and look forward to seeing you again soon in Kaslo Bay Park!
A PERSONAL NOTE
The Kaslo Jazz Etc Festival is a labour of love. Every single person involved (that includes you!) is a part of something so very special, and we really appreciate how much this festival means to everyone.
Myself, the Board of Directors and our entire team take the responsibility of running this event very seriously. The last couple years have been a challenging experience for all of us, and I recognize there might be some growing pains as a result of these changes to the festival. What won’t change is that we will continue to produce a world-class event with world-class music in a very small community, even during a pandemic. We will continue to nurture our vibrant role in the arts and culture of our area, no matter what. It will be an absolutely amazing reunion and I’m so excited to take this step with all of you.
The same thing I am telling the team applies to everyone reading this. Please take care of yourselves above all else. This event is intended to be a healthy, inspiring and positive experience for all of us so that we can take that energy and have it resonate throughout other aspects of life. I am so excited to be working on the Kaslo Jazz Etc Festival again and can’t wait for us all to Grow Together.
See you in The Bay!
